The NOAA's ABI, aboard the GOES-R series, launched in 2016, is the primary sensor, gathering weather, climate, ocean, and environmental data in the western hemisphere. It views Earth with 16 spectral bands, offering triple the spectral info, four times better spatial resolution, and over five times faster coverage than its predecessor. As a mission-critical payload, ABI provides over 65% of current mission data products. Now in geostationary orbit, the GOES-T satellite is officially named GOES-18.
